- Portugal is a country whose culture is very close to the French culture and French. The Portuguese have generally the same manners, the same lifestyle, the same habits that francophones. Your contact will therefore human characteristics very similar yours. 

Of course, this comparison can only be all things being equal, therefore, by comparing what is comparable (Urban, rural, socio-cultural, etc ...)
