What is it?

The disease manifests as an area hard in the corpus cavernosum of the penis corresponding to a fibrotic area and therefore described by patients as it was a "callous" in pênis.0, 4% to 3.5% of adult men are affected. autopsy studies show a greater number of affected individuals.  

How it develops or is acquired?

Its cause is unknown. Several etiologies have been described. Minor trauma during intercourse is a possible explanation for the problem. These injuries would be followed by a healing wrong. This all occurred in genetically predisposed individuals. Immunologic factors may be involved, since in some cases, no association with retroperitoneal fibrosis, palmar or plantar fibrosis (disease Depuytren).
