Data from the Ministry indicate five thousand

The number of teachers in unemployment remains one of the 'battle' between the Ministry of Education and the unions, which differ much in the data presented. The authority to speak about five thousand unemployed teachers, while the numbers of trade union structures point to 20 thousand. 

According to figures from the Government, which are based on data from the Institute of Employment and Vocational Training, in December 5521 were recorded unemployed teachers, a reduction of 57 percent in three years, advancing to RTP1 in its online edition.

For its part, the Association of Teachers of the Central Region is estimated that more than 20 thousand teachers in unemployment, describing the numbers of protection as "a cruel mystification" and a "manipulation of the numbers of unemployment."

"There are about 25 thousand teachers unable to enter the centers of employment, not checking any subsidy," denouncing the union, cited by RTP1, adding that recent graduates are 20 thousand and about five thousand without a single place in recent years.

The structure also indicates that some union of five thousand teachers have opted for other professions, with the number of teachers who work in the twenty thousand.

Besides the tens of thousands of teachers in unemployment, there are around 15 thousand teachers in hardship or temporary jobs and low pay and forced some to register as self employed, says the structure.
