Portugal is a small country in the southern portion of Europe. It is a close neighbor to Spain but the great thing is that Portugal can hold it’s own in terms of its rich history, culture and people.

Lisbon is also connected to Madrid, Spain via railway. It is also connected to the larger cities in Portugal such as Porto, Coimbra, and Braga. The city of Porto on the other hand can be reached by train from Vigo, Spain. Vilar Formoso is connected to railways going to Spain, France and other European countries. Inter-city travel via train in Portugal offers tourist to visit many places in a short period of time. Though it is more costly as compared to traveling by bus, it is often preferred by tourist due to its comfort and travel time is cut to a minimum.

If you want to see more of Portugal, you can take a bus ride within the city or go visit other towns. Car rentals in Portugal are also not that expensive. There are toll high ways that connects the northern part of the country to the southern regions. Hiring a car also allows you to visit other hidden attractions not usually covered by package tours.

Portugal can also be traveled by boat. There are a lot of ships that offer luxury cruises as well as to ferry tourists to Portugal’s island towns.
